Was it just a feeling that told you something was wrong? Or was it the observant part of you noticing that what you were being told was not true and didn't jive with reality? Did a number of small quiet observations make you conclude that something wasn't true, an intellectual activity - and to be heard did your intellect stir up some good old-fashioned dissonance? I agree that we are storytelling creatures. But I also see that it is often a factual circumstance that stirs our feelings. And then our feelings nag us to uncover the facts. We look at the facts, and then we have more feelings. By the time we are able to consciously articulate our situation, we can't remember where it all started. Our gut, head or heart. Because by the time we recognize our plight, all three have been engaged.
